Serena will guide students through best practices in graphite drawing and tips for drawing each individual feature. Students will create several small studies in order to loosen up and build confidence. Students will work from a variety of photo references provided by the instructor or they are welcome to bring their own.\n\n\n\n\n \nMATERIALS NEEDEDThese are the supplies you'll need to bring for class—feel free to supplement this list with other options you love or have on hand\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSketchbook any size or drawing paper\nVariety of graphite pencils (HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, or similar)\nGum eraser\nKneaded eraser\nBlending stump\nPencil sharpener\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you'd like to purchase supplies from our shop, you can order online and select in-store pickup, or shop in person before class. Shop hours are 11am-6pm daily; please plan ahead if you're picking up supplies! Instructors will not have access to the shop when we're closed.\nABOUT INSTRUCTORSerena Cole is a visual artist known for her psychologically charged, highly detailed colored pencil and watercolor portraits. Her work has been exhibited throughout the US at Gallery 16 (San Francisco), Soo Visual Art Center (Minneapolis), Stephanie Chefas Projects (Portland), and Robert’s and Tilton (Los Angeles). She is also a seasoned educator who has taught classes in drawing and painting at UC Berkeley’s Art Studio, CCA, Sierra College, American River College, and UC Davis.
