Her large abstract paintings are full of hard and soft edges, moments where the paint pools and gathers and places where the paint makes crisp lines and angles. Her colors are bold and inspired by the full range of colors found in both Mexico and Texas. With watercolors, we will play with some of Dorothy’s shapes by creating hard edges with tape, letting the watercolors be soft and blend, and create dynamic shapes with layered colors. This is a really fun class to experiment with abstract shapes and learn new ways of approaching applying paint to paper.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin Zoom 15 minutes early for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and class participants! Class will begin promptly at 5 minutes past the hour, so everyone has plenty of time to create!\nSUGGESTED MATERIALS:\n\n\n\n\n4 to 6 pieces of watercolor paper precut into smaller pieces (4x6 or 6x6 for instance)\n\nYour favorite watercolor and / or gouache paints \nSmall brushes at least one small flat brush C\nontainer for water \nArtist “masking” tape or delicate surface tape that can be stuck to paper and removed without ripping the paper (test it out first!) \n\nA piece of plastic wrap\n\n\n \nABOUT INSTRUCTORErin McCluskey Wheeler is a Bay Area artist who works in painted paper collage, writing, and found materials. Erin is a faculty member at the 92nd Street Y in New York and teaches at the Richmond Art Center, Ruth’s Table, and other Bay Area art centers. She has designed and filmed two classes with Creativebug and her mixed media work has been licensed and sold with West Elm, Samsung, Target, and Minted.  Erin has been an Artist in Residence for the City of El Cerrito, the City of Walnut Creek, Nick’s Cove, and Creighton University.
