The Lady of the Mountain, known as the Fjalkonann in Icelandic, is believed to stand under Bjarnarfoss, a waterfall on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. She is also the female personification of Iceland. The first view of her in art is found in the painting by German painter Johann Baptist Zwecker. It was curiously commissioned by a Welshman, and is housed in Wales at the Aberystwyth University.
